Biography

Richard Kones MD, PhD, FAHA, FESC, FRSM, FRSH, FAGS, FRSB, attended NYU School of Medicine, was a NIH Fellow in cardiology at Tulane University School of Medicine. Continuing his work at NY Medical College, he published a monograph on ventricular mechanics and book entitled Cardiogenic Shock. Eventually relocated to Houston, his recent research has focused on PCI and CABG in multivessel coronary disease and prevention of cardiometabolic risk to improve clinical outcomes. During his academic career he has had several teaching appointments, received scholarships, awards, and grants. His work includes 120 publications, 6 books, presentations, courses, and lectures; he has peer-reviewed for 170 different medical/health publishers. As a Fellow/member in notable medical societies and organizations, he has served on a number of committees, functions as editor in several capacities, and volunteers to support promotion of ideal cardiovascular health at both individual and community levels. As a clinician, researcher, educator/mentor, editor, and public health advocate, Dr. Kones’ biography has appeared in a number of medical biographical registries. In the last 6 years he has been invited to lecture, panel, or chair in 122 academic events. With a broad based scholarly background in cardiology, Dr. Kones brings vast editorial expertise to this journal.
