The fundamentals in an IT Engineering course include concepts such as information security, computer networking, database management concepts, and software engineering to name a few.  Specialists can find employment in diverse fields like finance, arts, and medicine. In today’s world, there is a need for professionals who are thorough with information technology, especially in developing countries such as India. The Indian IT industry has earned India the distinction of being the global IT ambassador with further growth expected.

An Information Technology Engineer can expect recruitment from tech giants such as Amazon, Microsoft, Facebook, IBM, and Apple to name a few as programmers, system administrators, system designers, system analysts, and many more, making it an attractive field. Does it live up to the glorification though? With lucrative offers, high salaries, and manpower requirements, it certainly would seem to be every engineer’s dream option. But, as the adage goes “With great power comes great responsibility”, this has its own cons. It requires frequent overtime work in a high-stress environment and the uneven growth inhibits many.

Given that IT is a core sector of “tech” industries, advancements in technology and widespread computer usage, the sector is unlikely to slow down anytime soon and continues to develop at a rapid rate. The growth, however, is uneven and unless one knows how to ride the wave of emerging information systems without drowning can they stay afloat and satisfy the customer and company’s needs.

It is an engineering division that specifically deals with the study of utilizing computers and telecommunications in order to control, gather, store and circulate information.

IT Engineering deals with the hardware as well as the software sectors.

Studying this branch leads to jobs such as:

  5. Database Administrator(DBA)

This branch offers a lot of jobs in IT Service Provider based companies in hardware and software development. Engineers work to develop, test, install, configure and troubleshoot computer hardware and software.

The major difference between IT engineering and Computer Science(CS) Engineering lies in the fact that IT deals with the application of the computer technologies in real-life processes whereas CS deals with the logic and science that facilitates these programs.CS deals with the creation and development of various software and hardware. On the other hand, IT deals with the selection of proper software or hardware for the task.

Leaving aside a few minor differences it is mostly the same as CS Engineering with good jobs and future prospects.
