Nizami Duran, PhD

Mustafa Kemal University, Medical Faculty Department of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology Antakya-Hatay, Turkey
Nizami Duran, PhD. was born in 1972 in Adana. He graduated from Cukurova University. He underwent doctoral training in Cukurova University Medical School, Department of Microbiology & Clinical Microbiology, in Adana. Dr. Duran worked as an assistant in the Department of Microbiology until 2001. After completing doctoral training in 2001, he started to work an asistant professor Doctor in Mersin University. And then, he transferred to Mustafa Kemal University, Dept. of Microbiology & Clinical Microbiology in the same year. He worked as an asistant proffessor Doctor from 2002 to 2006. He became an associate professor in 2006. From that date he has worked as a chief of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology department.
The Department of Microbiology at Mustafa Kemal University, Medical Faculty is dedicated to providing the quality education, through both teaching and research, necessary to meet the needs of this growing field. Our department pursues research in many areas of the science: bacteriology; immunology; virology; serology and microbial genetics; and others.
We investigate mechanisms of bacterial and viral pathogenesis as well as regulation of the immune system. Our faculty members teach graduate, undergraduate and medical students at Mustafa Kemal University and the School of Medicine research. Our Department provides the academic home for a highly interactive group of investigators whose research covers all of these areas, with particular emphasis on problems relevant to human health and disease, as well as emerging infectious diseases. Research in the department includes bacterial, viral and fungal diseases. Our department also study many areas of molecular microbiology and immunology, particularly as it relates to infection, including T cell biology, the regulation of innate and adaptive immunity, tumor immunology and vaccine and new drug development.
Dr. Duran has lectured extensively and published more than one hundred scientific articles in international journals and 60 articles in the Turkish literature. Over 1500 international citations have been made to these papers. Dr. Duran is currently on the editorial board of 2 international journals.
